Poker Strategy: When To Bluff
When playing poker in either an online casino or a land-based poker room, bluffing is always a popular tactic. However, many poker players associate playing poker to making big bluffs at any available opportunity; this is a rookie mistake. There are 3 types of bluffs commonly used in Texas Hold’Em, and they should only be used in specific situations:

Quick bluffs
Most of the bluffs made in Texas Hold’Em are quick bluffs, which are best used to win small-sized pots when a high rate of success is expected and you are not expecting anyone to call. There is low risk, and the rewards can be profitable. For example, if there is a bad pot and a small flop, the other online casino players will not be very eager to call your raise, so this is the best time to make a quick bluff.

Semi-bluffs
Semi-bluffs don’t experience as high a success rate as quick bluffs, but they do give you the chance to win even if another player calls your raise. For example, if you have A-K but the flop contains no cards that would create a winning hand, your cards still have some value because you could win with over-cards. If you bluff in this situation, it is only a semi-bluff because your cards still have a chance of winning. However, if you pull a semi-bluff each time you have a big draw, the other players will certainly catch on to your strategy.

Stone-Cold (or Naked) Bluffs
Naked Bluffs are the riskiest bluffs to try, because they require you to raise even if you’re holding a hand with no chance of winning, that’s the nature of casino card games. You are acting, based only on the fact that you believe no one will call or raise, which is not at all profitable. If you have nothing in your hand, then someone with even the weakest pair will win the hand, so if you continue to raise to keep up your bluff, you could be out quite a bit of money in the end.
