One month of Poker almost ends at the WSOP

After more then one month of great poker in the Rio Casino Hotel in Las Vegas the World Series of Poker is coming to a end. As we speak the best Poker Players in the world are playing in the Main Event for endless Poker fame.  Before the Main event was played we had 38 days of Events and more the $100 million in prize money. A total of 56 bracelets where awarded and the last one will be rewarded in November.

The Main Event is the biggest live poker event in the world. Of course now there are bigger tournaments to be found in online poker but for live poker the Main Event is the bomb.  The Main Event is a huge tournament with the first day being played in 4 days because of the huge fields. Every day has a maximum number of 3000 poker players. The days are 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D. Normally every day has 5 blind levels that each will take 2 hours try to find that structure in online poker :) . After the 4 days have been played the players from day 1A and 1B go together to day 2A. The poker players from day 1C and 1D will meet each other in day 2B.

After day 2A and day 2B there is a day of rest for the entire poker field. During the poker break for the pro's the media poker tournament takes the stage and it will crown the poker champion under the media.

After the media champion has been crowned day 3 of the WSOP starts. If you made day 3 as a poker player you will be looking at a poker marathon of poker days of full poker. Even for the online poker pro's these are tiring days. If you play poker online the tournaments are much shorter and also the blind levels go much quicker. So if you have to play straight for 5 days at 10 hours a day you get tired.

If you make the final table of the WSOP the event will be stopped and play will be resumed in November. That players have to come back in November is a new feature of the World Series of Poker. It's better for the TV ratings and also the less famous poker players have enough time to find themselves a sponsor.

After 2003 when the 'moneymaker' boom the World Series of Poker took off and never looked back again. Also online poker and poker online went crazy and over the world millions of players are playing online poker. They use online poker to qualify for the big live events like Moneymaker did.
